SCEC provides a space where individuals, groups or whole schools can explore, be inspired by and locate the research that will allow them to ask the right questions and confidently discuss concepts with architects, designers and furniture manufacturers.
SCEC acts as the catalyst for pedagogical change within new learning environments. Teachers are often apprehensive about change and stressed about expectations in Innovative Learnign Environments. It is not until teachers see what others are doing that they realise that they too can make changes to their pedagogical practice. Many even recognise that they are already doing many of the things that occur in a Innovative Learning Environment.
One of the most beneficial practices for schools implementing Innovative Learning Environments is to visit schools who have already made significant change. Another helpful strategy is to develop a spot in the school where teachers can test out different pedagogical approaches so they can see what works for them and for their students
