Research

Over the last decade billions of dollars have been spent on school capital works and building Innovative Learning Environments. One of the questions that is often asked;

Where is the evidence that this makes a significant difference in the learning outcomes of our students.

There is now considerable research being undertaken in Australian and around the world. The leaders in this field in Australia are the University of Melbourne. The researchers from the ILETC Team under the LE@RN Project have published multiple studies and papers on the factors that influence the impact of Innovative Learning Environments. The Team is lead by Wesley Imms and ably supported by John Hattie, David Clarke, Thomas Kvan, Clare Newton, Kenn Fisher, Ben Cleveland and Lisa Grocott

Professor John Hattie has recently joined the team at ILETC. His meta analysis of the research, which is now known to all teachers will continue to point us in the right direction for specific attributes of Innovative Learning Environment that will impact learning.

SCEC has collected and collated the most relevant and accessible research. There has been a concerted effort to bring together research that is relevant to the Australian context and the Australian educational landscape. Hence we have sorted the research into the following categories.

  • ILE Articles
  • ILE Research
  • ILE Literature Reviews
  • Changes to Pedagogy
  • ILE Evaluations
  • DoE Victoria Publications
  • ILE Impact of Furniture
  • ILE and the use of Technology
  • ILE Spatial Concepts
  • Innovative Playscapes

If you are aware of other relevant research please email us and we will attempt to include it in the research section of this website.
