About Us

SCEC is an Educational Consultancy company based on the Sunshine Coast. SCEC was formed to fill a gap in the education landscape – helping schools navigate the transition to innovative learning spaces. At times this involves working as a translator between schools, teachers and architects to achieve the desired results for student learning.

Having worked for Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) for the last 24 years, 8 of those in Head Office as a Senior Project Officer in Innovation and Development I am in a unique position to advise schools on developing strategies for implementing innovative learning environments and transitioning staff to contemporary pedagogies.

In my time at SCS I worked both at a national and a cross diocesan level exploring, developing and promoting contemporary learning spaces. I developed a number of models of innovative pedagogy and classroom practice. I was also a policy writer for SCS developing comprehensive policies on Implementation of BYO Devices, Student Acceptable Use Policy and Staff Social Media Use Policy. I developed resources for the $25 million Revitalisation Project where schools were allocated grants to revitalise specific aspects of their schools.

It is, however, my experience working across multi-jurisdictional education authorities that gives me a unique insight into innovative learning environments. I have worked on both national and cross-diocesan committees to deliver sustainable change to education. I have chaired the CEnet Education Services Standing Committee, sat on the Catholic Network Australia Contemporary Learning Working Group and on the Sydney Archdiocesan ICT and Innovations Committee as well as a number of New School Committees. It is with this background that I believe I can inform your discussion about the appropriate pedagogical changes necessary in innovative learning environments.

I can assist schools in identifying the cultural and organisational requirements to implement structural change, assist in making informed pedagogical decisions and map out considered approaches to connect the learning of students, teachers and parents.

My professional and network knowledge will provide insights into how to engage your learning community to ensure the development of appropriate resources to support curriculum and pedagogical needs. It will be through providing resources that are both research and evidence based and that promote strategies to improve students outcomes where the real success can be found.
