There is an increasing amount of research to suggest that even if you can not change the physical spaces significant changes can still be made with the configuration of furniture used in Learning Environments. This conscious use of furniture is often coupled with a growing spatial awareness of the students. With a scaffolded approach students start to make decisions about what furniture they need to use for particular learning activities. Teachers need to start this conversation and the best place to start for them is the research.
Here are a number of Reports, Research Papers and Articles on the different aspects of Furniture in Innovative Learning Environments.
